FitDIY

Updates

What's new in FitDIY, newest first.

1.3 — Get started faster

July 2026

  • A short welcome tour on first launch: set up your lifts, nutrition targets, and a first weigh-in in one pass. Every step is optional, and you can replay the tour anytime from About & settings.
  • One-time tips on your first visit to Food, Train, and Body, each linking into the built-in user guide.
  • The user guide now covers the photo scanner, hinge rep counting, the per-set rest timer, and Apple Health cardio.
  • The add-exercise form now catches typo-sized load increments before they save, and dismisses the keyboard on scroll.

1.2 — Scan your plate

July 2026

  • Photo food scanning (experimental): a new camera button on the Food tab — photograph a meal and an on-device AI model identifies the foods and portions for you to confirm, edit, and log. Optional ~2.6 GB model download; photos and data never leave your phone. How we built it →
  • Camera rep counting learns the hip hinge — deadlifts and RDLs now count — plus per-lift camera setup tips for more reliable counts.
  • The rest timer now starts after each set, not after logging the whole exercise.
  • Log a different weight per set; the prescription is a suggestion, not a cage.
  • Switching between Lift and Conditioning keeps your half-entered session.
  • See cardio recorded by your watch or other apps alongside your own log — read-only, from Apple Health, opt-in.

1.1 — Tip jar

July 2026

  • Added an optional tip jar — the only way FitDIY makes money. Everything else stays free and unchanged.

1.0 — Hello, world

July 3, 2026

The first release: one private app for everything you train and everything you eat.

  • Food logging with barcode scanning, favorites, and adaptive calorie & macro targets that recalibrate from your real logs.
  • Weight as a smoothed trend with a projection to your goal; smart-scale sync from Apple Health.
  • Strength with double-progression suggestions, cardio, and BJJ sessions with rounds, intensity, and recovery flags.
  • Video review with frame-by-frame scrubbing, progress photos, session reflections, and cross-metric reports.
  • No account, no ads, no analytics, no cloud — App Privacy: Data Not Collected.
